A well-rounded course of study is offered to each student in the Middle School. Those subjects offered include reading/literature, spelling, language, mathematics, science, social studies, computer, foreign language and P.E. In order to conduct purposeful inquiry and in order to be well prepared for higher education, students at Brunswick Academy are encouraged to master a range of skills. Those skills which transcend the basic skills of individual disciplines include social skills, thinking skills, research skills, communication skills and self management skills. Students are encouraged to become confident, self directed learners who develop skills that enable them to participate in our challenging curriculum. Understanding that the adolescent years are a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development, the middle school program aids to help students to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world.Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is viewed as important as learning the facts. Grades 6-8 are departmentalized which offers concentrated study in subject fields. Eighth graders will receive one unit of credit towards graduation for each of the following subjects: Algebra I, Computer 8, Foreign Language, Intro. to Business, and PE 8.
