Congratulations to Alyssa Reina Rivas, a junior, for being chosen as our Underclassman Student of the Month for November 2020! Alyssa is the daughter of Dr. Juan and Belinda Rivas of Lawrenceville, VA. Both of her siblings graduated from Brunswick Academy, Jessica (Class of 2015), and Anthony (Class of 2016).
Alyssa has attended Brunswick Academy since kindergarten. She is a top-achieving student in the rigorous Honors Program and also takes dual enrollment classes through Southside Virginia Community College. Alyssa’s hard work has earned her the distinction of All A’s Honor Roll for many consistent years. In addition to studying, Alyssa serves as the Secretary for both the Class of 2022 and the Student Council. She loves her school and is helpful on a daily basis by delivering the morning announcements for the Upper School.
Alyssa has participated in school athletics since the 6th grade, specifically volleyball, basketball, and softball. During her freshman year, Alyssa earned First Team All-State for Varsity Softball and later earned the VCC First Team All-Conference. Similarly, as a Sophomore, Alyssa earned Second Team All-State for Varsity Girls Basketball. Currently, Alyssa, the MVP for the 2019-2020 season, is the Captain of the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Outside of Brunswick Academy, Alyssa plays travel softball for Sarasota Heat 18U and plans on playing College level softball in the future.
